First impression on Windows 7

Published by coloos at 10:26 pm under Software, Uncategorized Edit This

As the newest member of MS’s Windows family, Windows 7 has been giving us too much expectations and surprises. Just a few days before the release date of Win7 RC edi., I deleted my XP, and decided to try a new OS. However, of course, it was not win7 (it hadn’t come out yet!). Actually it was the most popular Linux distri. Ubuntu. And as Win7 was released, I swithed to windows again. The installation is much easier than I thought. I downloaded an .iso file and  decided that I didn’t want to burn a CD for an RC edi.. So I used a virtual disk software to mount the iso file. If one month ago I’d seen myself trying to install a new OS by doing this, I would probably have said: you idiot! That’s not gonna work!
But according to some info I got from the web, I was pretty sure that Windows 7 had some improvements in the process of installation. So finally I decided to take it a try, and it really worked! I ran the install.exe from the virtual disk and the program automatically copy all the temp files that would be used to hard disk. So after that I was instructed to reboot the system and entered the installation interface. Everything goes well.
So with little effort I successfully installed win7 to my hard disk. I started my exploration of the new system.
1. Start up time
According to MS, win7 has much improvement in boot time. After several days of use, I found that this statement is quite true. I never used vista, but I know the overwhelming speed of vista (most of my friends used vista). And compared to windows xp, the most favored MS system till now, win7 did have a progress. The time it takes to boot is much shorter.
2. Compatibility
Most of my software run well under win7. And to my joy, my favorite game NEED FOR SPEED 9–most wanted ran well in the new system.
3. Aero
New effect is really cool. You can see that from google images.
4. New taskbar
One of the new features that win7 brought to us. Personally I think it’s a little like OS-X’s dock, and more friendly to user. I like this.
